Covid-19 y consulta dental: revisión de la literatura.

Resumen

A finales de 2019, ocurrió un brote de neumonía de etiología incierta en Wuhan, China. Se trataba de un patógeno de naturaleza zoonótica que fue transmitido inicialmente de animales a humanos provocando luego el contagio entre humanos; expandiéndose rápidamente a nivel mundial al punto de ser decretado como pandemia. Se conoce a este virus como SARSCoV-2, mismo que ocasiona la enfermedad por coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). Dado que SARS-CoV-2 se ha detectado en la saliva de pacientes infectados, implica un riesgo potencialmente alto para los profesionales de la salud dental, hecho por el cualsedebendesarrollarestrategiasparagarantizarunentornoseguroenlaconsultaevitandolapropagacióndeestevirus.Por lo que este artículo tiene como objetivo informar a los odontólogos sobre el manejo adecuado en la consulta dental mediante la revisión de información publicada hasta la fecha.
