Abstract

The presence of septum in the maxillary sinus is very variable, it can be single, multiple, complete, incomplete and be located in different anatomical areas, in relation to the area of the roots of maxillary parts, in edentulous or patients with natural dentition, from the canine area to molar area. Several authors have described the prevalence of the presence of intrasinusal septum based on radiographic studies, with different results. The objective of this article is to differentiate the presence of cysts, pseudocysts or tumors, from intrasinusal septums by means of complementary studies, presenting a clinical case where a "periapical cyst" was diagnosed by the radiological characteristics, performing the respective treatment, whose histopathological study gave as result: Sinus mucosa with chronic inflammation, abundant eosinophils and fibrous tissue that encapsulates bone spicule.
