Abstract

The change of color in non-vital teeth is a very frequent clinical observation, caused by some factors. The objective of the present work is to report the following clinical case, of a patient who presented color change in a non-vital tooth as a result of pulpnecrosis, whose frequency of presentation is high in non-vital teeth; The treatment of clearing is usually difficult and sometimes not very effective. It is presented a female patient, 28 years of age, referred to a dentist consultation for endodontic treatment and intracoronal whitening in the upper right lateral incisor; with a history of trauma in the mentioned tooth, the inspection presented a discoloration due to pulp necrosis, negative pulp sensitivity tests, the radiological analysis indicated a periapical lesion, and chronic apical periodontitis was diagnosed. The patient received endodontic treatment of the right upper incisor, and an internal whitening was carried out using as a brightening agent, the Endodontic Whitening System (35% hydrogen peroxide), from the Ultradent commercial house. Clinical and radiological control was carried out at 6 and 18 months, with an adequate clinical evolution. The radiological analysis shows a bone repair of the lesion and at the cervical level there is no data that evidences cervical external resorption.
