Abstract

AIM Dens invaginatus it is also known as dens in dente is a developmental disorder resulting from invagination of enamel organ in dental papilla; it starts at the tooth crown and often extends to root before the tooth calcification occurs. Affects both dentitions (primary and permanent). Maxillary lateral incisor is the most frequent tooth affected. It is difficult to diagnose due to the complex presentation and varied anatomy. Currently, the Oehlers classification remains being the most used. This article provides an overview of its etiopathogenesis, frequency, categorization as well as its clinical and radiographic aspects, as well as discussion of four cases of this condition.
