Abstract

Subject: Determine the association of overweight and obesity, by age and sex, with the indicators of oral health (simplified oral hygiene index - periodontal disease), in patients who attend Pre-consultation of the Career of Dentistry of the UCACUE. Materials and methods: the study is a cross-sectional and descriptive retrospective type, the data were obtained from the analysis of the oral health indicators section, of 400 clinical history files. Results: Gingivitis in: 18.47% of patients with Type I Obesity, 7.91% in Type II Obesity, and 28.61% in Type III Obesity. Conclusion: if there is an association between gingivitis and BMI, it is established that gingivitis has a higher prevalence in obese patients compared to non-obese individuals with normal weight.
