Abstract

A case is reported of a 73-year-old male patient, who goes to the consultation by the presence of a bulge on the palate, with discomfort during tooth brushing, food and diction is presented. After intraoral exam we diagnosed a palatine torus. Using a cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) it was identified that exhibited a cortical torus close to 2mm thick. The treatment plan consisted in resection palatine torus and post-surgical placement of a flap retaining plate in the clinic of Dentistry, Guayaquil University. The results of post-operative after 8 days were satisfactory; provisional plate retained conditioning fibromucosa palate keeping the flap in position, we couldn't evidence the presence of hematomas by gravity or necrosis of the torus osteotomized.
