Abstract

The triad characterized by micrognathia, glossoptosis and alteration of the airway with or without cleft palate in the Pierre Robin sequence has awakened multiple functional options in situations that put ventilatory function at risk. Tongue-lip adhesion is part of Pierre Robin sequence respiratory obstruction surgical algorithms. The gradual lengthening of the tissues through osteogenic distraction has made it possible to increase the size of the airway, which is currently recognized as a functional and therapeutic procedure.
