Abstract

Abstract

Objective: To establish the diagnostic mechanism for differential Schwannoma with other benign neoplasms in the oral cavity. Materials and Methods: A literature review of documents on the differential diagnosis of Schwannoma with other benign neoplasms in the oral cavity is proposed, based on articles in English selected in PubMed that were delimited by the years of publication ranging from 2016 to 2021. Results: The histological and immunohistochemical studies are the most appropriate mechanism to establish the differential diagnosis between; schwannoma, fibroma solitary, neurofibroma, granular cell tumor are benign lesions of the nervous system that affect the stomatognathic system. Conclusion: It was established that the most assertive diagnosis to differentiate these pathologies is the histological and immunohistochemical study in which it was possible to highlight that in schwannoma the disposition of the cells and their positivity of the S-100 protein is the main differentiating component for their diagnosis.
